J. HIGGS Loaded Bacon and Cheddar Potato Chips are being recalled because they may contain soy, one of the nine major food allergens, that is not declared on the product label as required by the FDA. Anyone who is allergic to soy could have a serious reaction if they eat this product. No allergic reactions have been reported to the company to date in connection with the consumption of this product. The recalling firm is Saratoga Potato Chips of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
The recalled product was sold in the states of Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee, and Maryland. They were sold in Save A Lot stores.
The recalled product is J. HIGGS Loaded Bacon and Cheddar Potato Chips that are packaged in a 7.75 ounce, flexible multi-layered laminated metalized package that is maroon in color. A picture of the chips, along with a wedge of cheese and some bacon strips, are on the front. The printing on the bag is white. The UPC number stamped on the product label is 0-51933-31645-4. The best if used by dates are DEC 11 26 and DEC 18 26. Those dates are stamped on the top right corner of the bag.
If you purchased this product and you cannot consume soy, do not eat it. You can throw the chips away in a secure trash can after first double wrapping or bagging the chips so other people can’t see them, or you can take them back to the store where you bought them for a full refund.
