Niwali Tejocote items are being recalled for yellow oleander contamination. Yellow oleander is a toxic plant that can cause serious illness and death. Yellow oleander can cause neurologic, gastrointestinal, and cardiovascular adverse health effects that can be severe or fatal. All parts of this plant are toxic because they contain cardiac glycosides. Symptoms of yellow oleander can include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, diarrhea, abdominal pain, changes in heart rhythm, arrhythmia, and more. No illnesses have been reported to the company to date in connection with the consumption of these products. The recalling firm is Global Mix of Middle Village, New York.
These products were distributed nationwide in the U.S. through eBay and Everymarket.com. A total of five units of the recalled products were sold; two of the capsules and three of the pieces. The sales were made through an online marketplace that doesn’t release purchaser contacts details to the seller, so the company can’t notify the purchasers of this recall.
The recalled items include Niwali Tejocote Capsules that are packaged in a white teardrop shape bottle with a white screw top lid and blue printing. Each bottle holds 90 capsules. The lot code on this product is RM500925 and the best by date is 03/03/2028. Also recalled is Niwali Tejocote Pieces that are packaged in a bottle with a blue and white wrap around label. There are 90 servings per container. The UPC number is 1 99284 23789 6, the lot code is RM400925 and the best by date is 03/03/2028.
If you bought either of these items, do not consume them. You can throw them away in a secure garbage can after double bagging theme so other people can’t see them. Contact the company to arrange a refund.
