Black & Decker Coffeemakers Recalled for Injury Hazard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Applica Consumer Products of Florida are recalling Black & Decker® Spacemaker™ coffeemakers because the coffee pot handle can break, causing cuts and burns. Consumers should immediately stop using this product and contact the company for a free replacement.

Product details:

  • Black & Decker® Spacemaker™ 12-Cup Programmable Under-the-Cabinet Coffeemakers
  • 159,000 units
  • Available in either white or black
  • There have been 1,276 reports of handles breaking
  • There have been 68 reports of burns and/or cuts
  • The coffeemaker is designed to mount under a cabinet
  • Manufactured in China
  • This recall includes the model numbers SDC740, SDC740B, SDC740BR, SDC740C, SDC740DIS, SDC740R, SDC750, SDC750C and SDC750DIS
  • Sold at retailers nationwide from July 2008 through May 2012
  • Cost was $50.00 to $80.00
