In British Columbia, some Tomme d’Or cheeses manufactured by Moonstruck Organic Cheese is being recalled because it may be contaminated with Listeria.

Product details:

  • Moonstruck Organic Cheese
  • Tomme d’Or

The British Columbia Centre for Disease Control is concerned that this cheese may still be in consumer’s homes. The problem is that Listeria bacteria can grow even at refrigerator temperatures, and food contaminated with this bacteria may not look or smell spoiled.

There are currently no illnesses linked to consumption of this product. Symptoms of listeriosis include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Listeriosis can be particularly severe in pregnant women, people with weakened immune systems, and the elderly.
