Cow Chips Dried Beef Jerky Recalled for Undeclared Wheat

BPT Products Inc of New Mexico is recalling 213 pounds of beef jerky products that contain wheat, one of the major food allergens, that is not declared on the label. There have been no reports of adverse reactions associated with the consumption of this product.

RecallThe products recalled include 1.5 ounce bags of “Cow Chips Dried Beef Original Flavor”, 1.5 ounce bags of “Cow Chips Dried Beef Adobo Flavor”, 1.5 ounce bags of “Cow Chips Dried Beef Adobo Flavor Hot HabaƱero”, 1.5 ounce bags of “Carne Seca Nativo Dried Beef Adobo Flavor”, and 1.5 ounce bags of “Carne Seca Nativo Dried Beef Adobo Flavor Hot HabaƱero.” The products have the establishment number “Est. 40357M” inside the USDA mark of inspection and a sell by date between “2/6/2013” and “7/18/2013” on a sticker on the back of the bag. The products were made between August 16, 2012 and January 18, 2013 and were distributed for sale in El Paso, Texas. You can see all of the product labels at the USDA web site.
