Winn-Dixie Recalls Organic Apple Juice for Patulin

Winn-Dixie is recalling some of its organic apple juice because it could have unacceptable levels of patulin, a toxic mold by-product, that exceeds FDA limits. Patulin is a mycotoxin of molds that can grow on fruits and vegetables. Any products made from concentrate with a patulin level of over 50 part per billion are subject to a voluntary recall. There have been no reports of illness associated with the consumption of this product.

Recall SignageThe recalled product is Winn-Dixie Organic 100% Apple Juice in 64 ounce containers. The UPC number is 2114021626. Expiration dates are between 1/15/2014 and 3/25/2014. The product was sold in Winn-Dixie stores in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana.
