Rustico Foods of Los Angeles is recalling approximately 2,659 pounds of packaged soup products because they were produced outside inspection hours and there did not have the benefit of federal inspection. Consumers who have purchased these products should not eat them. They should be thrown out or returned to the place of purchase.
The recalled soups: Chicken Matzo Ball in 2-pound and 1.6 pound containers; turkey chili with beans in 1.6 pound containers, and chicken vegetable in 1.6 pound containers were produced from Sept. 24, 2015, through Oct. 21, 2015.
The recalled products have the establishment number “P-45180” inside the USDA mark of inspection. They have lot codes “Lot #2662015” through “Lot #2942015” on the bottom of the container and “Best By 10/21/15” through “Best By 11/18/15” stickers on the sides of the container. They were shipped to retail establishments in southern California.
The problem was discovered when by a Consumer Safety Inspector from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA- FSIS). There were no confirmed reports of adverse reactions at the time of the recall. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.
