Country Fresh Recalls Snack Products for Possible Listeria

Country Fresh is recalling 2,552 cases of various snack products for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. They were made with recalled Sargento brand cheeses that were made by Deutsch Kase Haus and distributed by MDS Foods. The products were shipped to Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia under the Country Fresh and store brand labels described in the product listing. No illnesses have been confirmed to date by public health authorities.

The recalled products are Country Fresh Tuscan Style Mushroom in foam overwrap tray, with UPC number 74641-07211 and best by dates of February 14, 2017 through February 17, 2017. Also recalled is Country Fresh Stuffed Mushrooms in a foam overwrap tray with UPC number 74641-07207 and best by dates of February 14, 2017 through February 17, 2017.

Southwest Stuffed Mushrooms in a foam overwrap tray are recalled, with UPC number 72036-88471 and best by dates of February 14, 2017 through February 17, 2017. Marketside Garlic Cheese Stuffed Mushrooms in a clamshell package are recalled, with UPC number 681131-14821 and best by dates of February 15, 2017 through February 17, 2017. Finally, Ready Fresh Go Fruit and Hatch Pepper Cheese in a Clamshell package are recalled, with UPC number 41220-03680 and best by dates January 19, 2017 through February 16, 2017.

If you purchased these products, do not eat them. Throw them away or take them back to the store where you bought them for a refund. Clean out your fridge or freezer with a mild bleach solution to kill any bacteria.

If you ate these products, watch yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis, the illness caused by this bacteria, for the next 70 days. Symptoms include high fever, stiff neck, severe headache, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea. Pregnant women can suffer miscarriage or stillbirth if they contract this infection, even though their illness is mild. If you do get sick, see your doctor.
