An allergy alert has been issued for undeclared walnuts in Pumpkin Drop Cookies sold at Whole Foods Markets in five Northern California stores. Walnuts are one of the five groups of allergens that are required to be listed on the product label in this country. Anyone who is allergic to walnuts or tree nuts, could have a serious allergic reaction if they eat this product. There has been one allergic reaction reported to date in connection with this issue.

The cookies were sold in these locations: 3000 Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley, 390 Coddingtown Mall in Santa Rosa, 3502 Mt Diablo Boulevard in Lafayette, 450 Rhode Island Street in San Francisco, and 1333 Newell Avenue in Walnut Creek. The cookies have been removed from store shelves in those grocery stores.

The product is round with a dollop of off-white frosting. The cookies were sold in clear plastic packages and have a PLU number 024767. They were sold between October 19 and 26, 2017.

If you bought this product and are allergic to tree nuts, do not eat it. Throw it away or take it back to the store where you bought it for a full refund.

The symptoms of an allergic reaction can vary. Early and mild symptoms may include tingling of the lips, mouth, and tongue, nasal congestion, itchiness around the eyes or mouth, a strange taste in the mouth, a skin rash, and a cough. Serious symptoms that usually require medical intervention can include difficulty breathing, wheezing, trouble swallowing, and swelling of the tongue, lips, or throat. Anyone experiencing those latter symptoms should be taken to an emergency room immediately.
