Char-Broiled Beef Patties Recalled For Possible Foreign Material

OSI Industries of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin is recalling about 4,218 ponds of ready-to-eat char-broiled beef patties products because they may be contaminated with foreign material, more specifically metal pieces. This can pose a choking and mouth injury hazard. No adverse reactions, injuries, or illnesses have been reported to the company to date in connection with this recall.

Char-Broiled Beef Patties Recalled For Possible Foreign Material

These frozen, ready-to-eat beef patty items were produced on August 10, 2019. The recalled item is 38-pound bulk lined boxes of frozen, ready-to-eat “Char Broiled Beef Patties (Caramel Color Added).” The lot number on the product is 22219. The beef patties have the establishment number “EST. 1300” stamped inside the USDA mark of inspection on the box. They were shipped to firms that further process the product in Iowa and Michigan.

The problem was discovered during further processing activities at another federal establishment. FSIS is concerned that some of these beef patties may be in freezers of firms that process the product more. Any firm that may have received these char-broiled beef patties is urged to not distribute them, but throw them away or return them to the place of purchase for a refund.

USDA is conducting retail effectiveness checks to make sure that the recalling firm is notifying their customers about this recall. They also want to make sure that the product is not available to consumers. If it becomes available, the retail distribution list will be posted at the FSIS website.
