Corner Store Market Recalls Wraps and Salads For Listeria

Great American Marketing, of Houston, Texas, is recalling about 3,329 pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry wrap and salads that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. No confirmed reports of illness have been received to date in connection with this recall.

These products were produced from March 27, 2019 through April 8, 2019. They include:

  • 9.25-ounce plastic sealed cartons containing “corner store market CAESAR SALAD WITH GRILLED CHICKEN & CAESAR DRESSING” with sell by dates of 04/09/19 through 04/15/19.
  • 10.25-ounce plastic sealed cartons containing “corner store market CHEF SALAD TURKEY, HAM & CHEESE, WITH RANCH DRESSING” with sell by dates of 04/09/19 through 04/15/19.
  • 8.1-ounce plastic sealed cartons containing “corner store market CLUB WRAP Turkey, Ham, Roast Beef, Bacon Bits & Cheese” with sell by dates of 04/08/18 through 4/20/19.
  • 7.4-ounce plastic sealed carton containing “corner store market CHICKEN CAESAR WRAP Chicken Strips & Cheese with Caesar Dressing” with sell by dates of 04/08/18 through 4/20/19.

These products have the establishment number “EST. 31680” or “P-31680” inside the USDA mark of inspection. They were sold at the retail level in stores in Texas.

Routine testing of a shared FSIS and FDA processing area in the company’s facility confirmed positive for Listeria monocytogenes. If you purchased these items, do not eat them. Discard them after first wrapping them in foil or plastic wrap, then putting them into a secure garbage can. You can also take them back to the store where you purchased them for a refund.

Then clean out your refrigerator or freezer with a mild bleach solution, since Listeria monocytogenes bacteria can become persistent in cool, moist environments. The bacteria grows at refrigerator temperatures and freezing doesn’t kill it. Wash your hands well with soap and water after you finish cleaning, and after handling this product.
