Russ Davis Wholesale – Crazy-Fresh, of Eagan, Minnesota, is recalling about 702 pounds of Crazy Fresh and Jerry’s Chicken Caesar salad products because of milk and anchovies (fish), two of the major food allergens, that are not declared on the label. No confirmed reports of allergic reactions or other adverse events have been reported to the company to date.
The chicken salad items were produced from February 11 to February 22, 2019. The recalled items are:
- 10-ounce black plastic bowl with a clear plastic lid containing “CRAZY FRESH Chicken Caesar Salad” and use by dates of 02/15/2019 through 02/26/2019 printed on the label.
- 10-ounce black plastic bowl with a clear plastic lid containing “JERRY’S the kitchen CHICKEN CAESAR SALAD” and sell by dates of 02/15/2019 through 02/26/2019 on the label.
These products have the establishment number “P-45204” inside the USDA mark of inspection. They were shipped to retail stores in Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
The problem was found on February 24, 2019, when FSIS was conducted a label re view and found the misbranding. If you purchased this product and are allergic to milk or anchovies, or are lactose intolerant, don’t eat it. Throw it away or return it to the store where you bought the salad for a refund.
The government will make sure that these items are no longer on store shelves by conducting retail effectiveness checks. FSIS will release a retail distribution list where the product was likely for sale when it becomes available.
Symptoms of allergic reactions include tingling of the lips, tongue, and mouth, itching, hives, and may progress to difficulty breathing.
