Some Whole Foods Apple Cookies Recalled For Undeclared Egg

Southern Pacific Whole Foods Market stores are recalling Decorated Red Apple Cookies because they may contain undeclared eggs, one of the eight major food allergens. Anyone who is allergic to eggs could have a serious or life-threatening reaction if they eat this product. One allergic reaction has been reported to date.

This recall was started after a customer alerted the store about the allergic reaction. All of these cookies have been removed from store shelves, but people may still have them in their homes.

The Decorated Red Apple Cookies were sold by the pound. They were sold through August 20, 2019 at the Whole Foods Market stores in Southern Pacific region, specifically in Arizona, Southern California, Hawaii, and southern Nevada. The cookies were identified as “Sugared Appel Cookie” and are pictured in the photo below.

If you purchased this product and are allergic to eggs, don’t eat it. Throw it away or take it back to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

Symptoms of food allergies can vary from mild to severe. Early, mild symptoms include tingling of the mouth, lips, and tongue, itching, and eczema. More severe symptoms that can be life-threatening may appear later on, and include swelling of the lips, face, tongue, and throat; wheezing, trouble breathing, dizziness, fainting, and nausea or vomiting. Anyone experiencing these symptoms should see a doctor.
