Stop & Shop Recalls Ocean Beauty Seafood Smoked Salmon for Listeria

Stop & Shop Supermarket Company announced today that it removed from sale Ocean Beauty Seafood Lascco Cold Smoked Atlantic Salmon because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. There have been no reports of illnesses to date.

Recall SignageGiant’s, Martin’s, King Soopers, City Market, and Ralph’s have already recalled this product. The original recall was made on December 15, 2012. The product was sold in 8 ounce packages. The UPC number is 7284001708; all sell by dates are affected.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and potentially fatal illness. The symptoms include high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness, and nausea. Pregnant women may have only mild flu-like symptoms, but listeriosis can cause miscarriage and stillbirth.
