Giant Food Voluntarily Recalls Miller’s Shredded Cheese

Giant Food Corporation in Landover, Maryland has removed Miller’s Shredded Cheese packages from store shelves because of potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Giant’s was notified by its supplier about the possible contamination. The cheeses were sold in Giant Food Stores and Martin’s Food Markets.

Product details:

  • All products have expiration dates of June 5, 2012 through September 4, 2012
  • Haolam Shredded Cheddar Cheese in 8 ounce packages, with UPC number 2663826200
  • Haolam Shredded Mozzarella Cheese in 8 ounce packages, with UPC number 2663800264
  • Haolam Shredded Pizza Cheese in 8 ounce packages, with UPC number 2663826300
  • Miller’s Shredded Cheddar Cheese in 8 ounce packages, with UPC number 7881236950
  • Miller’s Shredded Mozzarella Cheese in 8 ounce packages, with UPC number 7881200910

There have been no illnesses reported in association with consumption of this product. If you have purchased these cheeses, discard them or return to the place of purchase for a full refund. You can also bring the receipt to the store for a refund.

Symptoms of listeriosis include severe headache, high fever, stiff neck, and nausea. This disease is especially problematic for pregnant women, since it can cause miscarriages and stillbirth.
