In Canada, Kabul Ground Beef Recalled for Potential E. coli 0157:H7

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is recalling ground beef sold at the Kabul Farms store at 255 Dundas Street West in Mississauga, Ontario because it may be contaminated with E. coli 0157:H7.

Product details:

  • Ground Beef Regular
  • Ground Beef Lean
  • Sold in plastic bags of varying weight
  • Sold on May 31, 2012
  • Packages have a sticker with product name, the store’s name, and the price.

If you’re unsure if you have this product, contact the retailer you purchased the beef from. There may be affected beef stored in home freezers.

There have not been any illnesses reported in connection with the consumption of this product. Food contaminated with E. coli 0157:H7 will not look, taste, or smell spoiled. If you have symptoms of E. coli poisoning, including bloody diarrhea and severe abdominal pain, see your doctor immediately. This type of food poisoning can cause hemolytic uremic syndrome, a serious complication that can lead to kidney failure.
