Ikea recalled almond cakes after coliform bacteria found. That bacteria is in fecal matter. Chinese authorities found the bacteria in the product. The company says that 1800 Taarta Chokladkrokant cakes, which are “almond cakes with chocolate, butter crem, and butterscotch” never reached the stores, but were destroyed after Chinese customs authorities found the bacteria and intercepted them. The almond cakes were to go on sale in 23 countries.
The Kroger Co is recalling bread made at its bakery in Clackamas, Oregon because it may contain pieces of plastic. The wheat bread was sold at the company’s Fred Meyer Stores in Idaho, Oregon and Washington and QFC stores in Oregon and Washington.
The products under recall include 22.5 oz bags of Kroger Value Wheat Bread with the UPC number 11110 02199 and a “Sell By”code of Mar 08 FK 053; 20 oz. bags of QFC Tender Twist Wheat Bread with UPC number 11110 20231 and “Sell By” code Mar 08 FK 053; 24 oz. bags of Fred Meyer Tender Twist Honey Cracked Wheat Bread with UPC number 11110 23004 and “Sell By” code Mar 08 FK 053; 24 oz Fred Meyer Tender Twist 100% Whole Wheat Bread with UPC number 11110 23005 and “Sell By” code Mar 08 FK 053; and 22.5 oz Fred Meyer Tender Twist Wheat Bread with UPC number 11110 23006 and “Sell By” code Mar 08 FK 053.
These recalled items were shipped Friday, Feb. 22, Sunday, Feb. 24 and Monday, Feb. 25. You can see the product labels at the FDA site. Fred Meyer and QFC loyalty card holders who purchased these products will receive a phone message alerting them to this recall.
