The recall of frozen, raw chicken products made by Palama Holdings of Hawaii has expanded. The chicken is being recalled because it reached unsafe temperatures during distribution. The expanded recall covers all teriyaki chicken products made at the company’s Kapolei, Hawaii plant with “Best by” dates ranging from September 24, 2014 to November 6, 2014.
The products recalled include: 10 pound cardboard boxes, each containing four cryovac sealed packages of May’s Hawaii “Hawaiian Style, Boneless and Skinless Teriyaki Chicken Thighs.” Also recalled are 5 pound cardboard boxes, each containing two individual cryovac sealed packages of May’s Hawaii “Hawaiian Style, Boneless and Skinless Teriyaki Chicken Thighs.” Finally, 2 pound cardboard boxes, each containing one cryovac sealed package of May’s Hawaii “Hawaiian Style, Boneless and Skinless Teriyaki Chicken Thighs” are recalled.
The products were produced on various dates between September 24, 2013 and November 6, 2013, then shipped for retail sale at Costco stores on the islands of Oahu, Maui, Kauai and Hawaii, and to the Schofield Commissary in Wahiawa, Hawaii. The packages have the establishment number “P-11077” in the USDA mark of inspection. Several boxes of the products were bloated, signaling gasses being produced. No reports of adverse reactions or illness have been reported.
If you purchased any of these products, do not eat them. Return to the place of purchase for a refund. You can see the product distribution list at the USDA web site.
