Publix Recalls Fruit Salad for Possible Listeria

Publix Super Markets is recalling their Deli Tri Fruit and Grain Salad because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Allison’s Gourmet Kitchens, the supplier, told Publix about this potential contamination. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of this product.

Recall SignageThe recalled product is Publix Deli Tri Fruit and Train Salad with UPC number 41415-39662. It is sold in pre-packaged 12 ounce containers and had use-by dates of 4/5/2013, 4/14/2013, and 4/17/2013. The product was distributed in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause illness up to 70 days after exposure. If you purchased and ate this salad, please monitor yourself for the signs of listeriosis, which include fever, muscle aches, diarrhea, and stomach upset. In pregnant women, the symptoms may be mild and flu-like, such as fatigue and aches, but the illness can cause miscarriage and stillbirth. If you do become ill, see your doctor immediately and tell her you ate this salad.
