Wegmans Clam Chowder Recalled for Undeclared Allergen

Blount Fine Foods of Massachusetts is recalling a single lot code of Wegman’s brand refrigerated New England Clam Chowder because of undeclared crab. Anyone with an allergy or severe sensitivity to crab could have a serious or life threatening reaction if they eat this product. No illnesses have been reported to date.

Recall SignageThe recalled product is Wegmans branded refrigerated New England Clam Chowder in 16 ounce retail cup. The UPC number isĀ 77890 27864 with a Use By date of 1/08/2014. The lot code is 10313-8J. The use by date and lot code are on the bottom of the cup. The ingredient statement does not include the allergen crab. No other products or date codes are affected by this recall.

The product was distributed to 83 Wegmans stores in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, and Massachusetts. The recall was initiated after a customer found a crab shell in the soup. If you purchased this product and are allergic to crab, return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
