Eillien’s Candies Inc is voluntarily recalling Dark Old Fashioned Sponge Candy because the product contains milk, one of the major food allergens, that is not declared on the label. One illness has been reported. The milk-containing product was distributed in packaging that didn’t declare the ingredient; this was an oversight in the labeling process.
The recalled products all have a best by date before June 1, 2015. The products include Eillien’s Dark Old Fashioned Sponge Candy in a 12 ounce tray with UPC number 034952573077, Dark Old Fashioned Sponge Candy in a 6 ounce Header bag with UPC number 034952129946, and Holiday Dark Old Fashioned Sponge Candy in a 10 ounce bag with UPC number 034952569278.
Also recalled is Blains Farm & Fleet Dark Sponge Candy in a 14 ounce bag with UPC number 034952811711, and Mrs. Kimball’s Candy Shoppe Dark Sponge Candy in a 13 ounce bag with UPC Number 034952139563. Piggly Wiggly Dark Sponge Candy is recalled, in a 12 ounce tray with UPC number 034952574777, and a 10 ounce bag with UPC number 034952581386.
Finally, Mae’s Corner Market is recalling Dark Old Fshioned Sponge Candy in 14 ounce bags with UPC number 034952410754, and in 24 ounce bags with UPC number 034952410983. And Mae’s Corner Market is recalling Premium Party Tray (Large B) in 59.5 ounce containers, with UPC number 034952413243.
If you purchased any of these products and are allergic to milk, do not eat them. Discard or return to the place of purchase for a refund.
