Chocolate Bars Recalled for Undeclared Allergens

Two types of chocolate bars are being recalled for undeclared allergens. Luna Bars is recalling Chocolate Chunk bars because they contain undeclared macadamia nuts. And Alprose is recalling several types of chocolate bars for undeclared milk.

The Luna Bar products, made by Clif Bar & Company, include 15 count boxes of Chocolate Chunk LUNA Bars made with macadamia nut butter. The label does not include macadamia nuts in the ingredient list or on the allergen statement. The wrappers do say that the product may contain traces of other tree nuts. The Bar UPC number is 7-22252-10068-9, the 15-ounce box UPC number is 7-22252-20068-6, and the best by dates are 11NOV14 and 14OCT14. If you are allergic to macadamia nuts, do not eat this product. Return it to the place of purchase for a refund.

LUNA Chocolate Bar Recall

The Alprose bars are made by BBM Chocolate Distributors. All lots of CHOCOLAT Alprose 52% CACAO PREMIUM DARK CHOCOLATE, Alprose Swiss Chocolate Dark Chocolate and CHOCOLATE Alprose Napolitains are recalled for undeclared milk. The products were distributed nationwide to retail stores from January 2013 through March 2014.

The 52% CACAO CHOCOLATE is within stand-up maroon colored gift box, with net weight 3.5 ounces (100 grams) and UPC number 689423025038. The Swiss Chocolate Dark Chocolate is within a gold colored pillow gift box, net weight 3.5 ounces (100 grams) and UPC number 689423027308. The Napolitains are a bulk product within clear plastic bags of 230 pieces, with net weight 1 kg (35 ounces), and UPC number 712963000354.

You can see pictures of the products at the FDA web site. If you purchased this product and are allergic to milk, return it to the place of purcahse for a refund. This recall does not affect the product’s “kosher pareve” status.
