In Canada, Hummus Recalled for Undeclared Sesame

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Green Table Foods are recalling four types of organic hummus because they contain sesame seeds that are not declared on the label. Anyone with an allergy to sesame could have a serious reaction if they consume this product. There is no word on whether or not any adverse reactions have been reported to date.

Recall SignageThe recalled products are all Green Table Foods brand and all are in 250 gram containers. All codes where sesame is not declared on the label are recalled. They are Organic Beet Hummus with UPC number  1 80071 00007 6; Organic Black Bean Hummus with UPC number 1 80071 00009 0; Organic Chickpea Hummus with UPC number 1 80071 00006 9; and Organic Spicy Hummus with UPC number 1 80071 00008 3. They were sold in Ontario at the retail level.

If you purchased these items and are allergic to sesame, do not eat them. Discard or return to the place of purchase for a refund.
