Natura Pet Recalls Food for Vitamin Insufficiency

Natura Pet Products is voluntarily recalling some dry cat and ferret food because it has insufficient levels of vitamins and excess minerals. Pets can become sick if they don’t consume enough vitamins for prolonged periods of time. Symptoms include vomiting, decreased appetite, lethargy, and weight loss. The presence of excess minerals is not a health concern, according to the company. There have been no reports of animal health concerns to date.

The recalled products are EVO Grain Free Turkey & Chicken Formula dry cat & kitten food in 15.4 pound packages. The UPC number is 5148 541400, the expiration date is 02/19/2016, and the lot code is 4300A700D2. Also recalled is EVO Grain Free Turkey & Chicken Formula dry cat & kitten food in 2.2 pound packages. The UPC number is 5148 541402, the expiration date 02/20/2016, and the lot code is 4301A700A4.

EVO Grain Free Turkey & Chicken Formula dry cat & kitten food in 2.2 pound packages is recalled, with UPC number 5148 541402, expiration date 02/20/2016 and lot code 4301A700B4. And EVO Grain Free Turkey & Chicken Formula dry cat & kitten food in 2.2 pound packages is recalled, with UPC number 5148 541402, expiration date 02/20/2016 and lot code 4301A700C4.

Finally EVO Grain Free Ferret Food in 6.6 pound packages is recalled, with UPC number 5148 542101, expiration date 02/19/2016, and lot code 4300A700D3. These products were sold in California, Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Texas, Vermont, and Canada and online.

If you purchased these items, do not feed them to your pets. Return to the place of purchase for a refund or discard as normal household waste. You can see pictures of product labels at the FDA web site.
