Organic Traditions Candy Recalled for Undeclared Milk

Health Matters America Inc. of Cheektowaga, NY is recalling specific lots of Organic Traditions brand Dark Chocolate Golden Berries and Dark Chocolate Sacha Inchi Seeds because they contain an undeclared allergen, milk. Consumers with milk allergies should not eat these candies as they run the risk of allergic reaction if they do. Illnesses had not been reported at the time of the recall.

Recall SignageThe recall applies to 3.5 oz. (100 g) bags of  Organic Traditions brand Dark Chocolate Golden Berries  with Lot numbers CACAOXPSWEETZZGBEBLK001-12, CACAOXPSWEETZZGBEBLK001-13 and UPC 8 54260 00263 8; an 5.3 oz. (150 g) bags with UPC 8 54260 00266 9. And to Organic Traditions brand Dark Chocolate Sacha Inchi Seeds with Lot numbers CACAOXPSWEETZZDSIBLK001-12, CACAOXPSWEETZZSIBLK 001-13 in 3.5 oz. bags with the  UPC 8 54260 00709 1, and. 5.3 oz. bags with the UPC 8 54260 00718 3.

The recalled products were distributed through retail stores in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, Ohio, Oakland, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin.

The problem was discovered by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. The problem may have been caused by cross contamination.
