Randy’s Slab Bacon Recalled for Undeclared Soy

Dearborn Sausage of Michigan is recalling slab bacon for undeclared soy, one of the major food allergens. The product was made with hydrolyzed soy protein that was not declared on the label. Anyone with an allergy or severe sensitivity to soy could have a serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume this product.

The recalled product is “Randy’s Slab Bacon” with package codes 114070, 114094, and 114122. The product was made on March 11, April 4, and May 2, 2014. It has the establishment number “Est. 10002” inside the USDA mark of inspection. It was distributed to a single retail store where it was sold as both slab bacon and sliced bacon. The sliced bacon will not have the original packaging information. If you’re not sure whether you purchased this product, check with the store. The recall announcement does not list the store where it was sold.

The problem occurred because of misprinted labels. There have been no reports of adverse reactions associated with the consumption of this product. If you purchased this product and are allergic to soy, do not eat it. Return it to the place of purchase for a refund or discard it.
