Chili Products Recalled for Undeclared Peanuts

Fresh Food Manufacturing of Pennsylvania is recalling 35,865 pounds of chili products for undeclared peanuts, one of the major food allergens. Anyone with an allergy to peanuts could have a life-threatening reaction if they eat these products. No reports of adverse reactions have been received to date.

Market District Chili Peanut RecallThe recalled products are 24-ounce plastic cup containers of “Giant Eagle Market District Firehouse Chili with Beans” with sell by dates of 12/21/14, 1/1/15, 1/11/15, 1/21/15, or 1/29/15. Also recalled are 24-ounce plastic cup containers of “Good Cents Chili with Beans” with sell by dates of 12/21/14, 1/1/15, 1/11/15, 1/21/15, or 1/29/15. Finally, 5 pound plastic bags of bulk “Market District Firehouse Chili with Beans with sell by dates of 1/16/15, 1/26/15, or 2/3/15 are recalled. They were sold hot by retail establishments.

These products were produced on various dates from November 21, 2014 through December 30, 2014. They have the establishment number “40211” inside the USDA mark of inspection. They were shipped to retail outlets in Maryland, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. The company’s spice supplier notified them that the cumin used in the chili may have been contaminated with peanut allergens.

If you purchased any of these products and are allergic to peanuts, do not eat them. Discard or return to the place of purchase for a refund.
