Chorizo Products Recalled for Undeclared Peanuts

The recall of cumin and spice products for undeclared peanuts has prompted a slew of secondary recalls of products that were made with those spices. Buffalo Provisions of New York is recalling 48,210 pounds of chorizo because they were made with cumin that has been recalled for undeclared peanuts. No illnesses or adverse reactions have been reported to date.

They include Brooklyn Cured Chicken Chorizo, La Centro Americana Chorizo Salvadoreno, El Casero Mexican Longaniza, El Casero Chorizo Poblano, El Casero Spanish Chorizo, El Casero Chorizo Ecuadoriano, El Casero Chorizo Jalapeño, and others. They all have the establishment number “EST. 4312” or “P-4312” inside the USDA mark of inspection. All products were shipped to retail and wholesale locations in Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York.

If you are allergic to peanuts and have purchased any of these products, do not eat them. Discard or return to the place of purchase for a refund. You can see pictures of product labels at the USDA web site.
