Sunset Foods Recalls Sausage for Undeclared Soy

Sunset Farm Foods of Georgia is recalling 42,669 pounds of link sausage products because they may contain undeclared soy, one of the major food allergens. Those with an allergy to soy could have a serious reaction if they eat these products. No illnesses have been reported to date.

Georgia Maid Smoked Sausage RecallThe recalled products are 11 pound vacuum packed cases. The first is “Southern Chef Brand Smoked Link Sausage” and the second is “Georgia Maid Smoked Link Sausage.” They have the establishment number “EST. 9185” inside the USDA mark of inspection. They also have a sell-by date between January 1, 2015 and May 28, 2015. They were sold at the retail level in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, New Jersey, and New York.

If you purchased these products and are allergic to soy, do not eat them. Discard or return to the place of purchase for a refund. You can see pictures of labels at the USDA web site.
