Brownwood Farms Recalls Sauces for Undeclared Soy and Yellow #5

Brownwood Farms of Michigan is recalling about 15,000 units of products because they contain undeclared soy, one of the major food allergens, or Yellow #5 food coloring. People allergic to either of those two ingredients may have a serious reaction if they eat them. No illnesses have been reported to date. You can see pictures of product labels at the FDA web site.

Brownwood Farms Sauce Allergen Recall

The products with undeclared soy are: YANKEE BOURBON BBQ SAUCE in 19 ounce bottles with UPC number 18303-00519 and best by dates before 09/21/2018; YANKEE BOURBON BBQ SAUCE – in 1 gallon containers, with best by dates before 09/21/2018; CHERRY BBQ SAUCE in 21 ounce containers with UPC number 18303-00506 and best by dates before 09/21/2018; and CHERRY BBQ SAUCE in 1 gallon containers with best by dates before 09/21/2018. Also recalled are CHERRY BBQ SAUCE in 5 gallon containers with best by dates before 9/21/2018; BBQ MUSTARD GLAZE in 11 ounce containers with UPC number 18303-00580 and best by dates before 09/21/2018; and BBQ MUSTARD GLAZE in 1 gallon containers with best by dates before 09/21/2018.

The products that are recalled for undeclared Yellow #5 food coloring are: APPLE RIESLING SALSA in 21 ounce containers with UPC number 18303-00518 and best by dates before 09/30/2017; APPLE RIESLING SALSA in 1 gallon containers with best by dates before 09/30/2017; PEACH SALSA in 17 ounce containers with UPC number 18303-00520 and best by dates before 09/30/2017; and JALAPENO CHERRY SALSA in 21 ounce containers with UPC number 18303-00510 and best by dates before 09/30/2017. Finally, these products are recalled for undeclared Yellow #5: JALAPENO CHERRY SALSA in 1 gallon containers with best by dates before 09/30/2017; JALAPENO CHERRY BUTTER in 12 ounce containers with UPC number 18303-00513 and best by dates before 09/30/2018; and JALAPENO CHERRY BUTTER in 1 gallon containers with best by dates before 09/30/2018.

If you purchased any of these products and are allergic to soy and/or Yellow #5, do not eat them. Throw them away or take them back to the store where you bought them for a full refund.
