The Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Nestle Canada are recalling specific lots of Good Start 2 Concentrated Liquid Infant Formula because of potentially reduced bioavailability of nutrients. This could lead to lower intake of some nutrients in babies. There have been some reported illnesses, but “they have not been confirmed to be caused by consumption of the affected product,” according to the CFIA.
The recalled product is Nestle Good Start 2 (Omega 3 & 6, dietary fiber, and added iron and calcium) Iron Fortified Milk-based Infant Formula – Concentrated Liquid in 12 x 359 ml packages. The codes on the product are 512857211A with Exp: 2016 MA 07, 512957211A with Exp: 2016 MA 08, 512957212A with Exp: 2016 MA 08, and 513057211A with Exp: 2016 MA 09. The UPC number for the box is 0 65000 49277 4, and the UPC number for the Individual Tetrapak is 0 65000 49285 9. This product was sold nationally at the retail level.
