Ring bologna by A&M Processing of Hamburg, Minnesota is being recalled for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Minnesota Department of Agriculture inspectors discovered that the product was processed in a manner that could result in possible Listeria contamination. No reports of illness have been received to date.
The A&M Processing product being recalled is ring bologna with a “packed date” of 10-4-2017. The product has the establishment number “625” inside the State of Minnesota mark of inspection and a “use by date” of 11-14-2017. Thirty pounds were produced in this particular batch. Eighteen pounds have been accounted for.
This bologna was sold at these locations: Radermacher’s Supervalu in Jordan; Glencoe Co-op Association in Glencoe; United Farmer Co-op Green Isle in Green Isle; Econofoods in Norwood Young America; and Glenn’s Supervalu in Winsted. If you purchased this product, do not eat it. Throw it away in a sealed or double bagged package, or take it back to the place of purchase for a refund.
Clean your refrigerator after you dispose of this product with a mild bleach solution to kill any remaining bacteria. Listeria bacteria can grow at refrigerator temperatures, and freezing does not kill it.
If you ate this product, especially if it was not cooked, watch yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis, the illness caused by the bacteria, for the next 70 days. Those symptoms can include high fever, stiff neck, nausea, diarrhea, and severe headache. Pregnant women need to be concerned about this illness because it can cause miscarriage, stillbirth, premature labor, and infection in the newborn. If you do feel sick, see your doctor and say you ate this recalled product.
