Erie Meat Products is recalling Druxy’s Fresh Deli Revolution brand Seasoned Cooked Roast Beef in Canada because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. Some illnesses have been reported that may be associated with the consumption of this product. Officials are conducting lab testing to confirm the link.
The product was sold from Druxy’s Famous Deli restaurant locations in Ontario. The product is portioned and served at those locations without a label or any coding. If you aren’t sure whether or not you consumed or bought this product, contact the restaurant. The recalled product is Druxy’s Fresh Deli Revolution Seasoned Cooked Roast Beef. The sizes the product was served in are variable. There is no UPC number on the product. The code on the product is Best Before 2018AL09.
Check to see if you have any of this product in your home. If you do discard it in a sealed package or take it back to the restaurant for a refund.
Clean out your refrigerator or freezer or wherever you stored this beef with a solution of 1 gallon warm water to 1 tablespoon liquid chlorine bleach to kill bacteria. Freezing doesn’t kill this pathogen, and it grows at refrigerator temperatures. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after you touch this product and after any cleaning procedures.
If you have eaten this product, you need to watch yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis, the illness caused by this bacteria, for the next 70 days. That’s how long it can take for symptoms to appear. Symptoms can include fever, muscle aches, severe headache, and neck stiffness, along with nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Pregnant women can suffer miscarriages, premature labor, and stillbirth with this infection, even though their illness is mild.
