A recall of Randsland Farms salad kit for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination that was issued in mid-August 2018 in Canada has been updated with more product information. No illnesses have been reported in connection with this recalled product.
The recalled product is Randsland Super Salad Kit in 454 gram packages. The code on the product is 083118 and the UPC number is 0 57225 00005 6. It was sold in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island in Canada.
This is the third update of Randsland brand products in August. On August 3, 2018, their Classic Coleslaw and Broccoli Slaw were recalled. Then, on August 16, 2018, another update was issued. Both of these recalls were also for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
Check your refrigerator to see if you have any of these recalled products. If you do, wrap them in foil or plastic wrap and throw them away. You can take the products back to the store where you bought them for a refund.
It’s then a good idea to clean your refrigerator, both with soap and water, then a mild bleach solution, to kill any bacteria that may be present. Listeria monocytogenes bacteria can grow at temperatures below 40°F. Wash your hands well with soap and water after touching this salad product and after cleaning.
If you ate any of these recalled items, you should monitor your health for symptoms of listeriosis, the illness caused by this pathogen. Symptoms include high fever, severe headache, stiff neck, muscle aches, nausea, and vomiting. Anyone who is pregnant needs to be very careful about this illness, since it can cause miscarriage and stillbirth. If you do start to feel sick, contact your doctor.
