Fisherman’s Wharf Swai Fillets Recalled For No Inspection

H&T Seafood of Bell, California, is recalling an undetermined amount of Fisherman’s Wharf Swai filets, or Siluriformes products (catfish), that were packed and distributed without the benefit of USDA inspection. The company also used the USDA mark of inspection without authorization. The fish were imported from Vietnam. No illnesses or adverse reactions have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

These frozen Swai fillets were produced over an undetermined amount of time. The recalled item is 1 pound plastic bags containing frozen fillets of “FIsherman’s Wharf Swai Fillets Product of Vietnam” with any USDA mark of inspection. They were shipped to warehouses and distribution centers and retail locations in Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, and South Carolina. The problem was discovered by FSIS personnel during surveillance at a retail store.

FSIS is concerned that some of these fish products are frozen in consumers’ home freezers. Check your freezer to see if you have purchased any of them. If you have, throw them away in a secure garbage can with a tight fitting lid. You can also take them back to the store where you bought them for a full refund.

The USDA is conducting effectiveness checks to ensure that this product is no longer available for consumers to buy. They are also making sure that the recalling company is notifying its customers about this recall. The retail distribution list, if and when it is published, will show stores where these products may have been sold. It will be published on the USDA web site if available.
