Mann Packing is voluntarily recalling a series of vegetable products that were sold to some retailers in the U.S. and Canada. This recall is in response to a notification by the FDA and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) of a potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. To date, there have been no illnesses reported to the company or the governments associated with these recalled products.
You can see the long list of Mann Packing products recalled in the U.S. and the products recalled in Canada at Mann’s web site, along with photos of the product packages and the UPC numbers. All of these recalled products have “Best If Enjoyed By” dates of October 11, 2019 to November 16, 2019.
In the United States, the recalled products include Del Monte Better Break Green Chili and Better Break Pomodoro; HEB Broc & Cauliflower, Broccoli Slaw, and Cauliflower Florets; HEB Organic Broccoli Florets, Hungryroot Asian Salad Mix and Superblend Salad; Kroger Organic Green Beans; Mann’s Rainbow Salad, Nourish Bowl Tomato Bolognese, and Veggie Power Blend; Marketside California Stir Fry and Vegetable Medley; O Organics Organic Vegetable Tray; Signature Farms Broc & Cauliflower, Broccoli Slaw, and Vegetable & Hummus Tray; Sysco Natural Cauliflower Florets, and Trader Joe’s Caulinini Florets, among others.
Please look at this list carefully. If you purchased any of these recalled products, do not eat them, even if you plan to cook them. Throw them away after first wrapping them in foil or plastic wrap, then putting them into a secure garbage can. You can also take them back to the store where you bought them for a full refund.
After discarding these Mann Packing products, clean your refrigerator and all of the packages in it with a mild bleach solution. Listeria bacteria can grow at refrigerator temperatures, and freezing doesn’t kill it.
If you ate any of these recalled products, monitor your health for the symptoms of listeriosis for the next 70 days; that’s how long it can take for symptoms to appear. They include high fever, stiff neck, severe headache, muscle aches, nausea, and diarrhea. Pregnant women must be very wary of this pathogen, since it can cause stillbirth and miscarriage even if the women is only mildly ill. If you do get sick, call your doctor.
