Premo Ham and Fresh Grab Ham Sandwiches Recalled For Listeria

Lipari Foods is voluntarily recalling Premo Ham and Fresh Grab Ham Wedge Sandwiches for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this recall. The recall notice states that this recall is an expansion of the Lipari recall for bulk chicken salads and chicken salad sandwiches, also for Listeria monocytogenes, that was issued on October 2, 2019.

Lipari Foods began shipping these products on September 25, 2019. They were distributed exclusively by Lipari Foods in Warren, Michigan to food service and retail stores throughout Florida, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.

The recalled products include Premo Wedge Ham & Cheese on Wheat, with Lipari number 915509, pack size 4/5 ounce, best by date 10/17/19, lot number 24201909, and UPC number 612510002001. Also recalled is Fresh Grab Wedge Ham & Cheese on Wheat with Lipari number 252646, pack size 56/5 ounce, best by date 10/17/19, lot number 24201909, and UPC number 612510002001.

The recall notice states, “The potential for contamination of this particular lot was brought to our attention during an FDA investigation of the previous recall.”

If you purchased these products, do not eat them. Throw them away in a sealed container in a secure garbage can, or take them back to the place of purchase for a refund.

If you ate these products, monitor yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis for the next 70 days; they can take that long to appear. Symptoms include high fever, stiff neck, severe headache, nausea, and diarrhea. Pregnant women are especially vulnerable to this infection, and may suffer premature labor, miscarriage, and stillbirth. If you do feel sick, see your doctor.
