Christopher Ranch and Garland Peeled Garlic Recalled For Temp

Christopher Ranch and Garland Peeled Garlic are being recalled for a temperature issue, which could allow for the growth of Clostridium botulinum, that produce spores that make the toxin botulism. All of the products were sold at TOPS stores. No illnesses have been reported to the company to date in connection with the consumption of these items. The recalling firm is Tops Friendly Markets of Williamsville, New York.

The temperature instruction on the products states that they must be held at 32 to 35 or 32 to 37 degrees, and the cooler is not holding that temperature. No pictures of the recalled products are included in the recall notice. All dates of these products are recalled.

The recalled products include Garland Fresh Peeled Garlic packaged in a 6 ounce plastic bag. All code dates are included. The UPC number stamped on the label is 68826-75340. Also recalled is Garland Fresh Peeled Garlic, also packaged in 6 ounce plastic bags, with UPC number 71894-00000. Both of these products should have been held at 32 to 35 degrees F.

Finally, Christopher Ranch Peeled Garlic is included in this recall. It is also packaged in 6 ounce plastic bags, with UPC number 74574-10852. All product code date are included. The reason for this recall is that the product should be held at 32 to 37 degrees F, and the open air coolers were warmer than that temperature range. If you bought any of these items, do not eat them, even if you plan to use them in a cooked item, because of the possibility of cross-contamination. You can throw the garlic away in a secure trash can, or you can take it back to the place of purchase for a full refund.
