Belmont Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream Recalled for Undeclared Nuts

House of Flavors Ice Cream Company of Ludington, MI is recalling its Belmont Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream because it may contain nuts that are not declared on the label. Consumers who have a nut allergy should not eat this ice cream as they risk serious or life- threatening allergic reaction if they do. The company has received some reports of allergic reactions.

ice-cream-recallThe company is trying to determine the type of nut allergen in the ice cream and how it came be there. The recalled product was only distributed in Aldi stores in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. No other Aldi stores or Belmont ice creams are in involved in the recall.

The recalled product was packed in 1.5 quart containers stamped with UPC code 4149816310 and date code 13340 and 13341. The “Best by” date is  Dec. 7, 2014.
