In Canada, Tahini Recalled for Salmonella Contamination

The recall warning issued for Sesameco products on June 18, 2014 has been updated to include another product in Canada. Tahini is being recalled because it may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. No reported illnesses have been associated with the consumption of this product.

The recalled product is Al Koura Tahina Extra in 907 gram (2 pound) containers. The UPC number isĀ 0 69467 06631 8 and the production date is 10 APRIL 2014. The expiration date is 10-04-2016. The product was sold in Alberta and Manitoba.

If you purchased this product, do not eat it. Discard in a closed container or return to the place of purchase for a refund. Wash your hands with warm soapy water after handling the product. The recall was triggered by the company.
