In Canada, Chinese Mung Bean Sprouts Recalled for Fecal Bacteria

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Atlantic Sprout Farm are recalling Chinese Mung Bean Sprouts because they may be contaminated with fecal coliform bacteria. Those bacteria are “indicator organisms” that give clues about the cleanliness of water. Bird or animal feces may have been in water that came into contact with the sprouts. There is no word on whether or not illnesses have been reported.
