Salmonella Carrot Chip Recall Includes Safeway Farms and Farm Stand Brands

The Bolthouse Farms carrot chip recall announced this weekend also incudes Safeway and Farm Stand brands. About 5,600 cases of the 16-ounce bags were shipped to retail customers in the United States and Canada.

The recalled products are labeled Bolthouse Farms Carrot Chips, Safeway Farms Carrot Chips, or Farm Stand Carrot Chips and have the following information and codes. Bolthouse: best if used by dates of Nov. 12  and 13, BF 212 J11 and BF 212 J12 with UPC UPC 71464 17209. Safeway Farms: best if used by date of Nov. 13, 06 T XXXX S2682, BF 212 J12 286 with UPC 21130 70217 and Farm Stand: with best if used by dates of Nov. 12 and 13, 04 T XXXX BF 212 J11-12 and UC P41163 45311.

Safeway Farms Carrot Chips are sold in Safeway stores in Ketchikan, Alaska; Arizona; California; Hawaii; Idaho; Montana; Nevada; New Mexico; Oregon; and Washington State, as well as Carrs stores in Juneau, Alaska; Pak ‘N Save stores in California; Randalls stores in Texas and Tom Thumb stores in Texas.

Salmonella  can cause a foodborne illness. Symptoms of Salmonella infection include diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps appearing 12 to 72 hours after exposure and lasting up to seven days. If you ate these carrots and have suffered these symptoms, see your doctor immediately.
