Steamed Pork Buns Recalled for Undeclared MSG

Quality Food Distributor of Las Vegas, Nevada is recalling more than 50,000 pounds of Steamed BBQ Flavored Pork Buns because they contain monosodium glutamate (MSG) that is not declared on the label.

Monosodium glutamate can cause adverse reactions in people sensitive to the chemical, including headaches, sweating, heart palpitations, chest pain, and nausea. it’s used as a flavor enhancer. The FDA allows the inclusion of MSG on a food label under many descriptive terms, including “natural flavors” and “autolyzed yeast extract” as well as “MSG”.
