Applegate Chicken Sausage Recalled for Foreign Materials

Schmalz’s European Provisions of New Jersey is recalling Applegate Organics Chicken and Apple Sausage because they may contain small pieces of plastic. There have been three consumer complaints about this issue, but no reports of injury at this time.

The recalled products were sold in 12 ounce vacuum packages. The date on the package is “Use or Freeze by 03/17/13”. The establishment number “P-5411” is inside the USDA mark of inspection. The sausages were produced on January 24, 2013, and sold in retail stores nationwide and through limited internet sales in New Jersey.

If you purchased these sausages, do not eat them. Return them to the place of purchase for a refund. Anyone concerned about an injury from the consumption of this product should contact a healthcare provider. For questions and more information, call Gina Asoudegan, Public Affairs Specialist, or Gerry Clarkson, Consumer Affairs Specialist at 1-800-587-5858.
