Giant Eagle Market District Bolognese Sauce Recalled

Summer Garden Food Manufacturing of Ohio is recalling 25,000 pounds of Bolognese sauce because they contain soy, wheat, and MSG that are not declared on the label. Soy and wheat are two of the major food allergens. No reports of adverse reactions have been received to date.

The product is 24-ounce jars of Giant Eagle Market Bolognese Pasta Sauce with the establishment number “EST. 34795” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The best by dates are 12/05/2014 or 02/06/2015 marked on the lid. The products were shipped to distributors in Ohio and Pennsylvania for further retail sales. They were produced on December 5, 2012, and February 6, 2013.

The subcomponents of the cooked seasoned shredded beef, one of the ingredients in the sauce, which contain soy, wheat, and MSG, were not included on the pasta sauce label. If you purchased this sauce and are allergic to wheat and/or soy or are sensitive to MSG, return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
