At least 20 people, including children, reported getting sick after eating at Iguana Joe’s Restaurant in Atascocita, Texas, on Father’s Day weekend. The number of ill is likely rise since it takes time between when a person gets sick, they see a doctor, and are tested.
According to the Harris County Public Health & Environmental Services, the restaurant was closed on June 25 because of health code violations, including food that was not held at the correct temperature.
Although Harris County health officials have associated the outbreak of Salmonella with eating at the Iguana Joe’s, the exact source or food associated with the outbreak has yet to be determined. This does not preclude victims of this outbreak from seeking compensation from the restaurant for Salmonella food poisoning.
