In Canada, Chutney Powder Recalled for Salmonella

Chutney-PowderThe Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Incan Global Group are recalling Nirapara brand Chutney Powder because it may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. No illnesses have been reported in connection with the consumption of this product.

The recalled product is Dosa/Iddli Chutney Powder in 100 gram containers. The codes on the product are ICP 02 03, 04/2013, and 03/2015. The UPC number isĀ 8 904010 697354, and the best before date is 3/2015. If you purchased this product, return it to the place of purchase for a refund. The product was sold at Kairali’s Thousand Spices in Edmonton, Alberta.

Foods contaminated with Salmonella bacteria do not look or smell spoiled. The symptoms of a Salmonella infection include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea that may be bloody, abdominal cramps, and fever. Some people may become so ill they must be hospitalized. Long-term effects of salmonellosis can include severe arthritis.
