In Canada, Hazelnuts Recalled for Possible Salmonella

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is recalling Trophy brand Hazelnuts in Shell because they may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. There have been no illnesses reported to date associated with the consumption of this product.

The hazelnuts were sold in 454 gram packages, with UPC number 0 59966 04848 9 and best before date of 2014 NO 05 (November 5, 2014). The product was distributed in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba and may have been distributed in other provinces.

Foods contaminated with Salmonella bacteria will not look, smell, or taste spoiled. This bacteria causes salmonellosis, which can be severe in young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems and chronic illnesses. If you purchased this product, do not eat it.
