Nueske’s Liver Pate Recalled for Undeclared Milk

Nueske’s Applewood Smoked Meats of Wisconsin is recalling 4,454 pounds of liver pate products because they contain the milk protein sodium caseinate, one of the major food allergens, that is not declared on the product label. No reports of adverse reactions have been received to date.

Recall SignThe product is 10-ounce vacuum packed packages of “Nueske’s Applewood Smoked Liver Pate”. Each package has the establishment number “Est. 8926” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The dates “2/13/13C”, “2/19/13C”, “2/20/13C”, or “3/16/13C” are on the packages. The products were made between December 15, 2012 and January 22, 2013 and were distributed for retail sale nationwide.

A label review found that a new shipment incorrectly omitted the sodium caseinate ingredient used to make the pate. If you purchased this product and are allergic to milk, do not eat it. Return it to the place of purchase for a refund. For questions and more information, call Tammy Beran, Nueske’s Applewood Smoked Meats Quality Assurance Director at 715-253-4058.
