Bueno Foods Recalls Frozen Green Chile for Possible Listeria

Bueno Foods of New Mexico is recalling frozen, not ready-to-eat green chile because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. Testing on samples of the product cooked properly according to package instructions found no bacteria. No reports of illness have been reported associated with the consumption of this product.

RecallIf you purchased this product, do not eat it. Return it to the place of purchase for a refund.

One of the problems with these products is that people may not cook the chile properly, or the uncooked product can contaminate surfaces or other foods. If you handled or ate this product, monitor yourself for listeriosis, the illness caused by the Listeria bacteria, for the next 70 days. That’s how long it can take for symptoms to appear. Symptoms include fever, flu-like illness, nausea, vomiting, headache, severe headache, stiffness, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
